2014! Time flies. Our window display for January has had people guessing. Why the record cover? Why the 14? Well it’s ‘One (1) for (4) the record’ or ‘1 4 the record’ meaning its 2014, that’s the 1 4 and we want it to be a record year in more ways than one (1)! A subliminal message to get you thinking at the start the year, because we are.
We want this year to be a more exciting year than ever for Elsie Florence. We love our huge collection of vintage china but there is the ever present pang of ‘we need to create our own range’. We are not short of inspiration either. With a background in print design, design consultancy and product range building what’s stopping us?
On Tuesday we hot foot it up to London town to Top Draw at Earl’s Court to see who’s doing what. There was inspiration but it didn’t set the world on fire and made us come
back with a more determined mind to start of our range of ceramics. There will be inspiration drawn from our vintage collections but we want colour, attitude and something fun and lively.
One of the best things to come out of the show was Royal Doulton and ceramics made in Stoke on Trent. British is best. We are going back to buying less and better and most importantly made here. We can’t keep consuming.
The world’s your oyster. You can be as brave and loud as you please. It’s so refreshing to see a brand like Royal Doulton working with street artists and creating plates that are there as art as well as function.
So it’s time to work on the mood boards and create our looks. We’ll keep you posted. It will be a long journey but an exciting one too. It’s a good time for us as the main wedding season hasn’t started yet but we have been hiring our vintage china for smaller winter weddings and special birthdays.
You know where we are if you are planning a wedding or party …….
Also come and find us at The Grange Oborne, Nr Sherborne next Saturday 25th January 2.00 pm – 6.00pm. Come and get some ideas and see how your wedding table will be transformed by our beautiful vintage china.
