It’s very cold here today especially in my office so I am wrapping up and concentrating on trend ideas for this wedding season.
It reminds me of childhood. Biking along the hedgerows and seeing an abundance of beautiful flowers in stunning yellows, pinks and violets. I relive this memory in France when I take my children out on their bikes when my daughter insists we stop to pick a bunch of flowers for Grandmere and some blackberries to make a crumble.
The theme for this wedding is homespun and vintage. It’s about gathering friends, flowers, vintage finds. It’s relaxed and personal.
We have decided to wrap stems of the floral bouquets with lace and antique brooches so I am off this afternoon to look for beautiful lace trims for the bride and bridesmaids bouquets
To hold the lace in place we are going to use beautiful vintage brooches. This will mirror the theme of the bridesmaid dresses. And the lovely thing is the girls will get to keep them. What could be nicer.
beautiful antique vintage brooch
This is rather beautiful too, a clever idea if you want something abit different. This entire bouquet is made up of antique brooches.
This idea of pinning a vintage brooch on to you wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses is so pretty and makes the dress individual. It’s a great way of giving your bridesmaid a lovely keepsake present.
I have been thinking about cakes too. There are the traditional ones which are really loveily and are great because it usually becomes the job of the mother in law to be who sometimes feels on the outside and gives her an opportunity to be involved and creative. Pretty cakes and vintage china together are a show stopper.
Look at these amazing cupcakes. Each one is decorated with an vintage style cameo or brooch made out of sugar paste. Very clever.
For the central table displays I personally love the idea of vintage teapots, posy jugs and tea cups filled with flowers. It creates an informal country wedding feel which is simple to do and so pretty to look at.
I think this tea cup and saucer posy by Elsie Florence is my favourite.
Should little bridesmaid’s have a posy, is one of the questions I have been asked lots of times when styling a wedding. If they are tiny tots then no. They don’t want to hold anything that doesn’t really interest them. So I propose giving them something to do. A little vintage bag is a good idea with a few lovely things to do and keep. Why not give them a flower fairy book as a keepsake and a notebook and pencils to keep them busy.
Remember the time of day and that if they are hungry they will be miserable something to eat is also worth considering. Dried apple rings in a little paper bag are fun.
I love this vintage vanity case for litle bridesmaids. It could be filled with dress up and toys to keep them busy through out the day.
